In the Norman Mailer novel Harlot’s Ghost, an Eastern Air Lines flight attendant simultaneously dates an executive at her firm, Frank Sinatra, John F. Kennedy, the mafia boss Sam Giancana, and the narrator, a CIA forwarder stationed in Miami. “Coffee, tea, or me?” stewardesses joked in the 1960s, and while Mailer exaggerated the quality of his character’s affairs, the quantity was plausible. A decade later, a lawsuit by a straight truck driver named Carlos Diaz forced airlines

Most of the gay ones will tell you they're gay right off the bat as well. I'll never forget the first time I worked with a male FA, who was gay. The first thing out of his mouth when we were stowing our bags was, "I enjoy white boys." My response? "What a coincidence---so do I!" That cracked us both up and we had a fabulous month functional together. He got great delight in pointing out to me which pax were gay, and which men were checking me out. Fun times!!!Click to expand...
I passion, love, LOVE going out on my overnights with lgbtq+ FA's. We receive to enjoy the scenery together and they keep the slimeballs away from me.
My favorite FA is as married as he can get to a TSA guy. He tells me that when a scorching guy walks through security, he shouts, "Man check!"
I think Spira is right about the friendly, outgoing, customer service aspects of the job. Seems like every queer I know (even the "not evident ones") is amiable, outgoing, charming, and instantly endearing. Must be why the pax absolutely Affection them!

I flew back from Paris recently and my flight was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant , who seemed to put everyone in a pleasant mood as he served us food and drinks.
As the plane prepared to descend into Birmingham, he came swishing down the aisle and told us that 'Captain Marvey has asked me to announce that he'll be landing the big scary plane shortly , so lovely people , if you could just put your trays up , that would be super.'
On his trip back up the hallway , he noticed this well-dressed and rather Arabic looking girl hadn't moved a muscle.
'Perhaps you didn't hear me over those big brute engines' he said ' but I asked you to raise your trazy-poo , so the main male can pitty-pat us on the ground.'
She calmly turned her chief and said ,
'In my country , I am called a Princess and I hold orders from no one.'
To which (I swear) the flight attendant replied , without missing a beat ,
'Well , sweet-cheeks , you're in my country and I'm called a Queen , so I outrank you. Tray-up , Bitch!'

The notion that male flight attendants are likely gay--whence? (Running With Scissors)

(Note: I allude to Augusten Burroughs’ of that title and the feature that was based on it, but this isn’t really a Cafe Population question. I also doubt that there is a definitive factual answer, so I don’t accept it belongs in GQ either. )
Years ago I saw the movie Running With Scissors, and some time later I came across the memoir and read that. I’ve started rereading it and apparently hold forgotten how damn funny it is. I mean, the Finches, like wow, man. It’s astonishing that all this is more or less true.
I don’t remember if it was in the movie, but initial on in the book he tells us that, as, a kid, one of his imagine jobs was to be an airline flight attendant. And right away, with that, I “know” that he’s lgbtq+. Granted, there are a few other clues in that chapter, but the flight attendant thing is the clincher. And I’m notified of this notion about male flight attendants, which could probably extend generally to male airline employees who work the passengers directly, whether in-flight or in the terminal. But it doesn’t make any instinct to
