Gay clubs in inland empire

San Bernardino LGBTQ Town Guide

San Bernardino, or San Berdoo as it’s known to its residents, is part of the California “Inland Empire” area and is situated on the floor of the San Bernardino Valley.  It is located approximately 60 miles east of Los Angeles, close enough to enjoy all that the enormous city has to offer, but also a bustling, thriving city in its own right. Those who live in San Bernardino can enjoy beautiful views of the San Bernardino Mountains and the San Bernardino National Forest in the North, as well as the natural beauty of the many creeks running from the foothills in the mountains to feed the Santa Ana River. It’s also a very diverse city, full of friendly people and much to notice and do. Even better, it is a city with a smaller, but vibrant LGBTQ group, where all can feel welcome and at home.

A Peek at the History of San Bernardino

Like many cities in California, San Bernardino was occupied first by indigenous tribes, and later, by the Spanish, who established several missions in the area. Subsequently, as pioneers began to move west, it became a prime settlement area for many Mormons, who officially incorporated the city

Wesley “DJ Wes” Hull is one of the lucky ones.

He’s making a living — and a pretty nice one — doing what he loves.

Hull has done so well with 340, one of Pomona’s favorite gay nightclubs, that he and business spouse Jose Sambolin are opening another in San Bernardino: 340 East.

“It’s so rewarding to hear people having a good time,” said Hull, a blond-haired beach young man who grew up on the Orange County coast.

Music companies and others in the industry own referred to the Inland Empire as a secondary or even third market, said Hull, so he’s working hard to transform that perception.

“We book incredible talent, and now with two clubs, there’s twice the reason for them to come out, because they are able to carry out at both,” he said of the entertainment he plans to book at his clubs. "There is a lot of progress projected for San Bernardino; a lot of opportunities for growth. The gay community has never had many entertainment options — they deserve a lot more.”

George Garcia, president of Equality Inland Empire, believes 340 East will be a positive addition to the surround

Riverside Front Runners (RFR) is the modern queer running club in Riverside that caters to the LGBTQIA2S+ communities in Inland Empire. Front Runners is an affiliation of LGBT running clubs across the United States and the society. RFR encourages the fitness and wellbeing of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, raises the insight that LGBTQIA2S+ belongs to sports, and supports the LGBTQIA2S+ communities in Riverside and Inland Empire.
