Gay bars in colorado springs

Tragedy At Gay Club In Colorado Springs.

I am so weary of the hate...I dont know what the situation is in this case, but hatred for anyone who has different sexual liking than others...hatred for anyone who has a different genetic back round than others....hatred for others of a diverse religion...and yes, even hatred for women's rights and them rising in business and science......I am so tired of seeing this all taught and perpetuated by certain religions and media outlets..and societies...and families....As the song in the musical "South Pacific" says, "You include to be carefully taught to hate." I cant consider I live in a country that doesnt even possess an equal rights amendment to the US Constitution. See at the states that defeated it.

The US is not alone in this hatred, BTW....look at where the World soccer matches are being played out....look at what happened to the Uyghurs.

I just wish I had an answer. In the Washington Articulate Patrol, we had lots of development on what prejudice and sexual harrassment looked like and how it would not be tolerated. And it worked very well in part because any supervisor having conduct knowledge of any of this

Running away from hate was 'not an option' for only homosexual bar left in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — When Club Q closed after the November 2022 mass shooting where five people were killed, only one gay bar was left unwrap in the entire City of Colorado Springs.

ICONS, located in Downtown Colorado Springs, is a designated LGBTQ+ space with singing bartenders and their owners said they would love more gay bars to join them as neighbors.

"We need a gayborhood," laughed John Wolfe, who owns ICONS with his husband Josh Franklin-Wolfe.

The two credit their victory in the city to the foundation laid by Club Q.

“If it weren't for that bold decision to be a voice in a town that wanted to silence your voice, there's no way that we could have been successful," Franklin-Wolfe said. “They were always charming, friendly neighbors and supportive. We owe a lot to them for sure.”

The two have alternative opinions when it comes to the one-year mark of the mass shooting at Club Q.

“For me, it, in a lot of ways, feels much longer because this event defined our city and our collective in so many ways. So, it's odd to think that that was only a year ago," Franklin-Wolfe said.

Most Monday nights, you won’t hear a thing coming from the petite purple house where Hamburger Mary’s resides in Urban area Park West. The queer-friendly bar and grill is typically closed that time to give staff the chance to unwind after a long week of serving (in more ways than one). But last Monday, Hamburger Mary’s was aroar. By 7 p.m., every seat inside was filled, and the sounds of Broadway tunes, boisterous cheering, and clinking drinks began to soundtrack the evening. The event: a sold-out benefit show to help reopen ICONS, which up until December, was Colorado Springs’ last remaining gay bar.

Since ICONS opened in 2020, the piano bar—staffed entirely by professional singers—provided Colorado Springs a rare space for lgbtq+ community members to dial their own. Following the Club Q shooting in November 2022 and its subsequent closure, ICONS was the only gay prevent left in Colorado Springs. Husbands and co-owners Josh Franklin, a Colorado Springs native, and John Wolfe were determined to endure providing a safe vacuum for the
